Remember when you were a kid and used to play in the sandbox well, I did that this morning as I was getting a killer workout. Thanks to ClassPass I was introduced to Sandbox Fitness and I am hooked.
At first I didn’t expect it to be much of a workout … well I was proven wrong 3 minutes into the class. We started with cardio and if you have ever ran or done jump squats in the sand you will know that it definitely gets your heart rate up. Then we moved onto TRX on a (unstable) surfboard. Talk about not only engaging your core but your ENTIRE body! Keeping your balance was tough. Then we finished it off with yoga on the surfboard. There aren’t a lot of places where you can be barefoot with sand between your toes, jamming to pump up music, using a surfboard to build up a sweat and work on your beach bod. Can you visualize how fun this class was yet?
The owner, Minna was my instructor and she is adorable. She motivated me the entire class. Somehow she made all the moves look easy but that would be the last word I would use to explain this class. If I could some it up, it was the craziest workout class I have ever taken. It was unique, fun, entertaining, and KICK ASS!
